Mangalore: The Sandesha Awards 2014 presentation ceremony was held at Town Hall on Wednesday January 15, acknowledging the contributions of some outstanding personalities in uplifting the society.















The ceremony was presided by Archbishop of Bangalore Dr Bernard Moras. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore was the chief guest for the event.
Dr Jayanth Kaikini who is a renowned poet and lyricist was the guest of honour whereas Fr Victor Vijay Lobo, Sandesha director, graced the occasion.
In his presidential address Archbishop Dr Bernard Moras noted the award to be a prestigious one and termed the awardees as ‘Navaratnas’. He moreover added that receiving Sandesha Awards is a great achievement and congratulated the awardees for their immense contribution to the society.
Dr Jayanth Kaikini also addressed the gathering along with Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza.
Dr Na D’Souza, chairman of the selection committee welcomed the audience and announced the awardees.
Eminent writer Vaidehi won Sandesha Kannada Literature Award, Cyril G Sequeira won Sandesha Konkani Literature Award, Lalitha Rai won Sandesha Tulu Literature Award, Sr Irene Mascarenhas won Sandesha Best Teacher Award, P Sheshadri won Sandesha Cinema/TV Award, Abdul Rasheed won Sandesha Journalism Award, B K S Varma for Sandesha Art Award, B V Rajaram won Sandesha Media Education Award, Lawrence Saldanha won Sandesha Konkani Music Award and Corrine Rasquinha, White Doves trust secured the Mangalore Sandesha Special Recognition Award.
