According to reports, a 22-year-old lady tried to pass off the theft of gold and cash from her sister’s home as a break-in. Following a protracted police interrogation, she revealed the truth. Uma, an employee at an auto consultancy, is the suspect whom Kengeri police have detained. She broke into her sister’s home in Kengeri, West Bengaluru, and took the valuables.

The goods were taken on April 24 when the family went to their village in Huliyurdurga, Tumakuru, for a festival. Uma was the one who frequented her sister.

Because there were valuables at the property, Uma had requested a relative to stay until they returned. On the evening of April 24, he came home to discover boxes ripped open and chili powder all over the kitchen floor. A police station in Kengeri received a complaint. When the neighbors were questioned by the police, they didn’t really help. Nothing was seen on the security cameras positioned throughout the residence.

“We discovered that when the relative went inside the residence, the door was locked. While looking for spot evidence at the crime scene, we were unable to locate any fingerprints. We deduced from this that the crime was done by a family member,” an investigating officer stated.

The police were informed by the complaint that Uma frequently visited her sister. Uma was interrogated for two days by the Kengeri police after they followed up on this lead, but she refused to confess. “But in the end, she lost it. Before the family left for Tumakuru, she manufactured a duplicate set of the house keys, which she used to break in, according to the police. All of the suspect’s cash and valuables have been retrieved by the police. Uma has been placed in judicial detention by a judge.
