In a crackdown on a production facility and warehouse distributing counterfeit cleaning supplies, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) detained three individuals on May 1.
Investigators from the CCB’s Economic Offence Wing detained Shubham Gupta, 20, of Adugodi; Dawalat Singh, 32, of KR Puram; and Shiva Patel, 40, of Bidarahalli. The accused allegedly produced bottles and sachets that looked like the actual packaging of well-known cleaning brands, according to the police. After that, they would deliver them to wholesale stores located all across the city.
Investigators disclosed to DH that Gupta sold the phony goods out of a wholesale store in Adugodi. Patel oversaw the fabrication of the swindle, while Singh handled its distribution.
Products worth Rs 95 lakh, including a machine used to make the bottles and sachets, were taken from the accused by the police. The operation, which took place at the plant in Rampura on Bengaluru’s eastern suburbs, was carried out in response to a tip that these counterfeit goods were being kept in a godown inside the boundaries of Wilson Garden police station.
