Will Nano replace autos in state?

Bangalore: The State government will consider and put forth  a proposal under the guidance of BBMP Commissioner wherein Tata Nano cars or vehicles designed likewise will replace autorickshaws.

The move by  the State government is to ensure commuter safety and upgrade the standards of public road transport.

In the recently held State Road Safety Council meeting, BBMP Commissioner MN Lakshminarayana proposed that the State government should provide subsidy to those who come forward to buy Tata Nano or similar cars for public transport purpose.

The meeting  chaired by Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy decided that the proposal would be examined under the provisions of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.
