Serial theft panics Gonikoppalu shopkeepers

Gonikoppalu :  Thieves have stolen several valuables including cash worth thousands of rupees in a spate of thefts reported from Gonikoppalu town on December 19, Thursday night.

At least six shops in the town have been burgled.  The thieves who broke into the battery shop on the bypass road have decamped with a cash of Rs 20,000  and  mobile phones while   cash of Rs 23000 was stolen from a textile shop on the main road and Rs 10,0000 from the East World Mobile shop.

The thieves also made vain bid to burgle the Adarsha Jewellery  shop  and three other shops  in the town. The serial thefts have caused panic among local residents and shopkeepers  who want the police to  step up  patrolling. Though a CC camera is installed on Aravattoklu road, the thieves had dared to burgle shops in the area.

Finger print experts and a dog squad have been pressed into service.  Gonikoppalu police are investigating.
