Tumakuru: There has been relentless torture on the cattle housed at several cattle sheds (gaushalas) run by some private persons in the state. The poor animals mostly which are malnourished and unwell have been dying due to lack of water, fodder and cleanliness.
According to reports, at Bengaluru Gaushala situated in Mahadevapura in Bengaluru there are several cases of dead cows. They do not even provide proper medical treatment to the ailing cattle. Even the removal the carcasses from the cowshed and cremation is not done properly.
On Friday, police had visited Dhyan Gaurakshana Trust in Gubbi in Tumakuru. The cops had reportedly gone there to release over 40 cattle belonging to farmers. They were taken into custody after allegations that they were being transported to slaughter houses. The cattle were sent to Gaushala owned by Dhyan Gorakshana Trust. But when the police went to release them, the trustee of the Gaushala Nandini Matani reportedly reacted sharply against cops and demanded money in order to release. The cops returned empty handed.
It is learnt that the Goshala in Bengaluru and Gubbi are owned by a single person who is backed by one of the central ministers.
