SJEC receives life membership of Institution of Engineers

Mangaluru: St Joseph’s Engineering College–Vamanjoor, Mangaluru received the life membership of the prestigious Institution of Engineers, India (IEI) on May 4.The official announcement of the same was made at a ceremony held in the Institution on June 9.

The Institution of Engineers (IEI) was established in 1920 and has its corporate office at Kolkata. It provides a vast array of technical, professional and supporting services to the government, industries, academia and the engineering fraternity, operating through its 114 centres located across the country and 5 overseas chapters which provide the following:

· Technical collaboration and sponsorship for arranging technical seminars/ symposia/ workshops etc.

· Institutional Members may avail the opportunity for R&D grants from IEI.

· Participation of deputed staff in seminars/workshops at a concessional rate.

· Awards membership of various categories such as Associate, Member and Fellow membership.

The institution has forged a partnership with the globally renowned journal publishing house, “Springer.”

SJEC plans to avail the best possible opportunities provided by IEI for the benefit of its students and faculty. The institution is proud of having one research centre per department and eight of them across the college. With the corporate membership, the institution which is already committed to R & D through research centres in all departments, will strive towards seeking financial support in continuing its cutting-edge research in future.
