Chitradurga : A transgender entered the Lok Sabha battle as an Independent candidate from Chitradurga constituency on Wednesday March 26.
Bhavana submitted her nomination papers on Wednesday after arriving in a grand procession to the DC office in a procession participated by many supporters.
Speaking to reporters, Bhavana said that transgenders were exploited to a great extent and deprived of various facilities. It is my desire that transgenders must also come into main stream, Bhavana said.
The only progress till now is the Election Commission giving voting rights to sexual minorities. I am contesting elections to ensure welfare of deprived section of society, said a confident Bhavana.
Bhavana said that people elected till now had neglected the welfare of Chitradurga district which had remained a backward area. The implementation of Upper Bhadra Project is being delayed and so is the direct rail line to Bangalore, Bhavana complained.
The sexual minorities from across the State have been invited for canvassing, Bhavana added.
