Bangalore :The HAL Airport Road is one of the busiest stretches in the city with 15,000 vehicles crossing the stretch during peak hours.
The BBMP is all set to the convert the 17 km stretch from ASC Centre to the Hope Farm where the ITPB is located into a red light free corridor to ensure free flow of traffic. However this will come with a heavy price for commuters on the HAL Airport Road for the next two years. Intense traffic Jams. But it can’t be helped if the greater good is to be achieved.
The Plan is to construct a series of grade separators at Wind Tunnel, Suanjan Das Road and Kundanahalli junctions at a cost of Rs: 109.50 Crores. 15000 PCU’s (Passenger Car Units) ply on the road during peak hours – 9 am to 11 am and 5 pm to 8 pm and around 11 lakh vehicles use the route regularly on a daily basis . It hosts a number of business establishments and is also a connector to Kolar, Malur, Sarjapura, and other suburban areas of Bangalore.
