Bengaluru: Addressing the press persons, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs T.B. Jayachandra said the State Cabinet on Wednesday decided to construct 1.5 lakh bathrooms at a cost of Rs. 20,000 each. CM Siddaramaiah during the cabinet meeting announced that the government had decided to construct 97,500 bathrooms for households belonging to the general category and 52,500 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
According to the law minister, the beneficiaries will be identified by the legislators and will contribute Rs. 6,000 for each bathroom from their local area development funds. The government and beneficiaries would share Rs. 12,000 and Rs. 2,000 respectively.
