Siddaramaiah urges banks to provide customer security

Bangalore: On the recent attack on a lady bank manager at a Bangalore ATM, chief minister Siddaramaiah has said that providing protection to customers is the key responsibility of banks.

Speaking to reporters here he said bank officials have been asked to initiate suitable security measures and that the government will not tolerate any negligence in this regard.

He said that banks have been instructed on several occasions to provide security to the customers who have financial dealings with the bank. While, home minister has already instructed shutting down of ATMs sans security measures, he said.

Commenting on Bangalore ATM attack CM further stated that police department has taken necessary steps to trace the culprit. It is indeed shocking to know that a woman has been attacked in an ATM during broad daylight.

Police department has been instructed to ensure that such incidents did not recur, CM said and added that bank officials have been asked to extend full co-operation in this regard.
