Bengaluru: Dubbing the charges leveled by BJP leader Jagadish Shettar ‘baseless’ and ‘frivolous’, Water Resources Minister M B Patil has denied any corruption in the Malaprabha project.
Speaking to mediapersons, Patil said that no norms have been violated regarding the awarding of tenders regarding the remodelling or modernisation of Malaprabha left and right bank canal.
Patil also informed that, the State owned Karnataka Neeravari Nigam Ltd had sent a proposal for taking up the work at Malaprabha canals which was yet to be approved by the State government. He stated that a proposal for a project would have to go through several stages of processing which was still not done in the case of the Malaprabha project.
“The survey is still in its initial stage and is yet to be completed,” said Patil.
Terming Shettar’s charges as silly, Patil said that even after having served as the CM and as a senior minister, Shettar doesn’t know about the procedures and is hence hurling baseless charges.
It may be mentioned that, JP leader Jagadish Shettar on Friday had alleged that Rs 400 crore scam is brewing in the Malaprabha canal modernization work and package contract was being awarded favouring one contractor.
