Bengaluru: A complaint has been lodged against former minister, JD(S) leader HD Revanna for allegedly kidnapping one of the alleged victims of sexual abuse by his son, Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna.
The sources, said that the FIR was registered just hours before the anticipatory bail plea of HD Revanna came up for hearing. However, Revanna has withdrew the application, as Special Investigation Team had stated that they have not included charges of rape against him.
Police said, the alleged victim was employed as a made at Revanna’s house for six years. A video of her being ‘raped’ by Prajwal is doing rounds.
Revanna, son of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda was earlier booked for sexual harassment based on the complaint of another former maid in his house. He has sought anticipatory bail in that case, but according to the sources, he withdrew it.
Meanwhile, HD Revanna has sought time to appear before SIT to face an inquiry. As of now the police teams are making an all-out effort to track down the ‘kidnapped woman’. She was allegedly kidnapped to prevent her from testifying against Prajwal Revanna, who allegedly raped her, police said.
The complaint was filed by her son at the KR Nagar Police Station in Mysuru district on May 2 evening, stating that his mother, who appears in a video of being ‘raped’ by Prajwal Revanna despite pleading with him to spare her, was coerced into accompanying Satish Babanna on the night of April 29. She has not communicated since then.
The complainant alleged that his mother worked as a maid at H. D. Revanna’s home in Holenarasipur and on their farm for six years. Three years ago, she left her work and moved back to her village.
Satish Babanna, according to the lawsuit, resides in Mysuru’s K. R. Nagar. He is known to the family. He came to their house a few days before the Lok Sabha election (on April 26) and took his mother to Holenarasipur, claiming H.D. Revanna’s wife Bhavani Revanna had summoned her.
“Babanna dropped my mother off at our residence the morning of the polls (April 26). He warned my parents not to tell the police if they came to our house.” According to the complaint, he threatened them with being booked in a case and instructed them to notify him if the police arrived.
On April 29, Satish Babanna returned to their home about 9 p.m. “He threatened us that if my mother is apprehended by the police, a case will be filed and all of us will be jailed.” He claimed that H. D. Revanna had asked him to bring my mother to him. “He forced my mother to accompany him on his bike,” the complainant claims.
On May 1, the complainant was informed by his friends and two brothers-in-law that ‘a film of his mother being raped by Prajwal Revanna’ was being circulated. “They told me that despite my mother pleading to be spared, Prajwal Revanna had raped her,” he said.
“I contacted Satish Babanna and requested him to get my mother back. However, he brought up a previous altercation between Prajwal Revanna and others in which a photo of my mother was shown with a stick. He informed me that I needed to get her out on bail.”
At this moment, the son suspected that his mother had been kidnapped.
“My mother was kidnapped by Satish Babanna under H. D. Revanna’s instructions. He is keeping her unlawfully at an unidentified location. There is a threat to her life. I plead that the police rescue her and take action against both of them,” the complainant stated.
