Bengaluru: With the Sharavathi Hydel Power Plant, which was shut down after a fire accident last month, all set to start power generation from Friday, March 25, the state is hopeful to seeing some ‘Acche Din’.
Speaking about the same on Thursday in the Assembly, Energy Minister D K Shivakumar said that the closure of Sharavathi station on February 18 due to fire mishap affected power supply across the state.
Sharavati station is the biggest hydroelectric plant in the state and has an installed capacity of 1,035 MW per day.
Shivakumar said production at Raichur Thermal Power station, whose four units were shut down due to water shortage, has also improved to 1,200 MW. This should ease the situation in the coming days, he said.
He also said that the third unit of Bellary Thermal Power Station and the greenfield Kudgi project will be commissioned soon
