Bengaluru: Even as the hue and cry around leaking of chemistry question paper is still on, the officials have made it clear that the chemistry question paper in the ongoing PU II examinations was not leaked from any of the 975 examination centres.

Department of Primary and Secondary Education Principal Secretary Ajay Seth, on Thursday said that the department has verified with all the chief exam superintendents and found that the question paper bundles were not tampered. “The seals were intact,” he told the reporters.

Of the total number of centres, students of the new syllabus (freshers) are appearing for examinations in 968 centres.

Seth said that the question paper bundles, which are deposited at the district/taluk treasury, are transported to the centres concerned under security at least two hours before the exam starts. The packets are received and opened in front of five students after affixing their signature.

However, with this row, the department is now thinking of filming the entire process of receiving and opening the question paper bundles at the centres.

Meanwhile, the department is also considering a recommendation made by Rashmi V, the then director of the department, that question papers be sent online two hours before the exams.

He also hinted at the possible clean-up drive within the department to weed out the staff who may have been involved in malpractices.
