Bengaluru: With the anti-graft body-Lokayukta becoming almost dormant in the state, all police stations across the state have been directed to take up complaints under the Prevention of Corruption Act until the Anti-Corruption Bureau units start functioning.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Wednesday, Director General and Inspector General of Police Om Prakash said they had issued standing orders to all police stations to receive complaints under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The government is being criticised for its move to constitute ACB and on Tuesday, the High Court too had slammed the state government for crippling the Lokayukta by hastily trying into bring in the ACB.

However, the DG said that the police department has urged to bring the ACB under the administration purview of the Home Department instead of the DPAR, not insist on permission from a competent authority for lodging an FIR and remove the provision under which an advisory board is required to review the performance of the ACB. They have written to the government to limit the role of the advisory board to administrative matters only.
