Police dept keeping strict eye on rowdy elements :ADGP

Bangalore : “In the backdrop of the up-coming election the rowdies have been warned against indulging in  criminal activities. Among the 26,838 rowdies in the state 50 have been already booked under the Goonda Act and 433 rowdies have been arrested for communal riots” stated Additional ADGP (law and order) M N Reddy.

He was speaking to reporters during a press conference at the DGP office on Friday March 14. The ADGP informed about the measures initiated  by the Police Department to ensure a smooth election process. 

The number of rowdies earlier was 17,935, and now it has risen to 26,838, wherein as many as 13,365 persons have been produced before the magistrates and further action has been taken, Reddy added.

 Security measures

The IGPs, police commissioners, SPs, DySPs, inspectors and other higher officials of the police department have been deployed. Additional police security will be deployed in Naxal affected areas, including Udupi-Chikmagalur, he said. Checkposts have been set up at border areas and round-the-clock checking is being undertaken, he said.
