Bengaluru: JJ Nagar police arrested as many as 126 persons in connection with Sunday’s riot at Padarayanapura area in the city.

According to the police sources, as many as 18 teams were formed to investigate the riot. These teams arrested 126 persons till now, but one of the key accused KFD Irphan is still absconding.

“Vajeer, a vendor has been identified as the main accused. He allegedly instigated the mob on Sunday afternoon itself,” informed authorities.

According to the sources, the area was witnessing protests over the last few days.

“A few days ago, locals held protest seeking fish and eggs. “But police and local leaders convinced the people not to hold any protests,” added police.

It may be recalled that violence erupted on Sunday when police and health workers came to the area to take away a few secondary contacts of COVID-19 patients.
