KMF to supply free Nandini milk to poor till April 30

Bengaluru: The poor families residing in the slums and low market areas will get free milk till end of this month.

Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has made an announcement in this regard.

As per the order, each family will get 1 liter of milk per day.

Under the scheme, poor, daily wage labourers and the slum dwellers will get free milk from the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF).

According to the authorities, the state government will buy a liter of milk for Rs.37 from KMF and distribute it among the needy.

“Rs.25.81 crores will be released for this purpose,” informed CM BS Yediyurappa.

According to the sources, over 17 lakh liters of excess milk is available with the KMF every day and it is struggling to market it.

“Now to help the KMF, state government has decided to buy and distribute milk among the needy,” informed officials.
