Bengaluru: Here is a piece of good news for the regular KSTRC/BMTC bus commuters and the electricity consumers. The state government will not revise the bus fare and the electricity tariff till the end of the Lok Sabha election, which will be held in the month of April and May.

Speaking to the reporters in Bengaluru, transport minister DC Thammanna informed that every month state owned transport corporations are incurring Rs.15 crores loss.

“We want to increase the fare, but it will be after the election. The fare revision will be 18%,” he said.

Meanwhile, if sources in the energy department are to be believed, the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Authority is expected to announce the new power tariff only after the Lok Sabha election.

“The authority has put off public hearing on BESCOM tariff revision proposal. So it is now confirmed that there will not be any power price hike till the election,” explained an officer from the energy department.
