Bangalore : The filing of the nominations have revealed that Nandan Nilekani, the Congress candidate for the Bangalore South Lok Sabha constituency is the richest candidate this Lok Sabha polls. However, Union Minister Veerappa Moily who is contesting from Chikkaballapura and BJP’s Nalin Kumar Kateel who is the candidate from Dakshina Kannada don’t even own a house and car in their names, but of course they have it in the names of their spouses.

The nomination papers declared on Thursday March 20 that Nilekani and his wife Rohini have assets worth Rs 7,700 crore. On the other hand, union minister and former chief minister Veerappa Moily has less assets than his wife Malathi, according to the affidavit submitted along with the nomination papers as the Congress candidate for the Chikkaballapur seat.
The affidavit states that his(Moily’s) wife owns immovable property worth Rs 11.02 crore. Moily has outstanding loans of Rs 14.17 lakh and his wife Rs 3.8 crore.
On the other hand in terms of the BJP members the assets owned by former chief minister and BJP candidate for Bangalore North DV Sadananda Gowda and his family have nearly doubled in the last five years, as per the affidavit filed by him.
In 2009, Gowda had shown that the total asset owned by him and his family is Rs 5.69 cr. This time, the assets of the leader and his family are worth Rs 9.87 crore.
The affidavit submitted Kateel has stated that he has movable assets worth Rs 5.37 lakh and immovable assets worth Rs 6 lakh. While, his wife Shridevi N Shetty has movable assets worth Rs 45.69 lakh and immovable assets worth Rs 35 lakh.
