Bangalore : Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi who is moving heaven and earth to become the next prime minister of India has now decided to himself finalize the list of candidates contesting from BJP in all the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies of Karnataka.
Sources reveal that Modi has withheld the list of probable candidates for all the 28 seats prepared by the party and sent to the high command. It has been gathered that Modi has initiated a survey through a private agency to decide the candidates.
As per the instructions of Modi, a four member team is camping in every Lok Sabha constituency and this team will conduct a survey and decide on the candidates. Every team will give a detailed report to Modi on the winning candidates and the candidates will be finalized by Modi himself after consultations with state leaders.
In fact, the state unit of the party has no information regarding the survey by private agency. This development has even surprised party leaders. Modi is learnt to have instructed for such surveys in states where the BJP was strong and also in states where it was weak.
Sources say the list of names recommended following the survey and the names recommended by the state unit will be compared before finalizing the candidates.
