Bangalore : The state government, on November 19, Tuesday launched a programme of providing computer education to students of Government High Schools located in rural areas.
Informing this to reporters here, State Minister for Information and Technology SR Patil said a total of 400 centres would be opened across the state to impart computer education to rural students. The government will purchase 18000 computers and supply the same to these centres where students will be educated on digital technology and information technology. The move is to ensure that rural students do not lag behind their urban counter parts, the minister said.
The government wants to see that at least one member of every rural family is computer literate by the end of next year. The department also intends to train housewives in computers, the minister informed.
