The well-known Mantri Square Mall in Malleshwaram was taken over by Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials on Friday morning for allegedly failing to pay taxes. Mantri Mall has previously been taken by BBMP officers, and the mall’s management had previously obtained a court-issued stay order to allow them to reopen.
Numerous media sources claim that the mall failed to pay the ₹50 crore property tax, and as a result, the local authority issued seizure notices to the businesses. On Friday morning, a notice banner was placed in front of the mall, and the management was requested to stop operations right away.
The BBMP has repeatedly sent seizure warnings to the authorities regarding this well-known mall in Malleshwaram, which has escaped the notice of the local body. Mantri Mall was able to obtain a court-issued stay order, meanwhile, and carry on with business as usual. The BBMP had previously closed the mall in December and March of last year, but business has since resumed.
A top BBMP official previously told Deccan Herald, “They are known for getting a stay order from court whenever we seal it down.” They received the court order despite the fact that we filed a caveat.
The Mantri mall, which has direct access to Namma Metro, features more than 200 stores. One of the city’s oldest shopping centers is the mall.
