Bengaluru: Ongoing medical and dental post graduate (PG) seat allotment process has again proved the fact that courses like radiology, general medicine and dermatology are the preferred choice of the medical graduates and there is no demand for the courses like MD Community Medicine etc.
This year, the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) is filling up all PG seats available in the state including All India Quota, Management Quota, NRI Quota seats available in the private medical colleges and deemed universities. Now, the KEA has published the first round seat allotment results which proved that radiology, general medicine and dermatology are the preferred courses of the medical graduates. Many medical graduates even opted for these costly seats in the private medical colleges/ deemed universities instead of low fee seats in the government medical colleges.
According to the seat allotment results, among the top ten ranking students, six MBBS graduates have opted for radio diagnosis while three for general medicine and one for dermatology. Same trend continued till top 100 ranking. According to the officials at the state medical education ministry, every MBBS graduate wants to select these three courses as they have potential to earn huge money once they complete the course.
As expected government medical colleges are the first priority of most of the students due to the lowest fee structure. Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI) was the first choice of top ranking students.
