Bengaluru: The 84th Kannada Sahithya Sammelana, which was scheduled between December 7 and 9 in Dharwad has been postponed to January 2019.

According to a decision taken by the Kannada Sahithya Parishat, the Sammelana will now be held between January 6 to 8 in Dharwad.

According to Parishat President Manu Baligar, the district in-charge minister RV Deshpande had called a meeting to discuss the preparations. In that meeting, it was observed that enough time is not available to organise the Sammelana in December and hence it has been postponed to January.

“More than a lakh people are expected to attend the three days literally meet. A total of 17 committees have been formed, including the reception committee headed by the DC. Three stages will be built to hold multiple events,” he informed.

“More than 30,000 people are expected to take part in the inaugural event,” he said.
