Bangalore:Several JD(S) MLAs and leaders have appealed to former CM HD Kumaraswamy against quitting the post of State JD(S) Presidentship as well as opposition leader in Assembly over the defeat of the party in the Lok Sabha bypolls.
They have appealed to the leader not to take any hasty decision as victory or defeat is common in elections.They have also urged HDK to concentrate on strengthening the party rather than going in for resignation.
Already leaders namely PGR Sindhia, Basanagowda Patil Yatnal, MC Nanaiah and Basavaraj Horatti have held talks with HD Kumaraswsamy in a bid to convince him. Also leaders Madhu Bangarappa, HK Kumaraswamy and Cheluvarayaswamy too have tried to request HDK against resigning.
The JD(S) legislative party meeting has been convened on Thursday and the meeting will discuss the issue. Party sources said a meeting of JD(S) leaders will be held at Bangalore prior to this.
