Bengaluru: “I read that Sri Rama Sene is planning to approach the High Court, challenging the Karnataka Sahitya Academy award conferred on me. I welcome it however, I would be happy if they read my works and later form an opinion on the quality of work”, said writer K.S. Bhagwan.

Addressing the gathering during the 109th birth anniversary celebrations of Bhagat Singh organized by the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), Bhagwan said that the opposition was only political.

Bhagwan said the Constitution clearly states that it is the duty of every citizen to promote rationalism, scientific temper and reform. “What I have been doing is fulfilling my Constitutional responsibility. Sadly, it is being portrayed as something wrong by a section of society. Those who are opposing rationalism and scientific temper are carrying out anti-Constitutional acts. I request them to introspect on this,” he said.

Later while addressing the students, he said parents instill a fear of God in children and condition them in that regard. “To be free of this, students should be born again. Bhagat Singh has written a well-argued essay – Why I am an Atheist. All students should read this essay,” he said.
