Hubballi: The Kalasa Banduri agitation is intensifying in the district, as well across the state, day by day. Several organisations and other associations have been demanding that the Central Government implement Kalasa-Banduri project which is aimed at providing drinking water to Hubli-Dharwad and Gulbarga cities in North Karnataka.

Despite several protests being held in various places, local BJP MP Prahlad Joshi is not present in the district. Hence, the Mahadayi and Kalasa Banduri Horata Samanvaya Samiti has submitted a memorandum to the city police commissioner, Panduranga Rane, to find Prahlad Joshi.

Not only Kalasa Banduri, several other taluks in the region are facing a drought situation. “Farmers are in distress. To discuss about the same, famers have tried to visit the MP’s house several times. But the MP is not available at his residence. But he is present in front of media and has been continuously accusing farmers who have tried to visit him at his residence. His supporters have been indulging in abusing these farmers and have also attempted to assault them”, the memorandum stated.

Hence, the police commissioner should immediately find the MP and also ensure his meet at the presence of the commissioner, they urged.

The samiti also requested the commissioner to allow them to meet CM Siddaramaiah who will be visiting Dharwad district tomorrow.
