Udupi: Former Beejady gram panchayat member Jayamala, 35, was murdered at Koraga colony in Kumbashi on Sunday.

Divakar P M, Circle inspector Kundapura, said that the deceased is the daughter of Ramesh from Moodugopady. A mother of three, Jayamala left her husband three years ago and was staying with Papanna from Koraga colony in Kumbhashi from the past year. Her elder daughter stays at home; son is working in a hotel and the youngest son is a class six student.

Papanna and she consumed drinks and fought every day, it has been reported. The locals had seen the couple fight till 10 pm on Sunday.

On Monday, people found Jayamala lying lifeless and informed the police. The Police said that Jayamala died after she was hit with a rod. Papanna is absconding.

The Kundapur police has registered a complaint.
