Bengaluru: K Mahesh, accused of shooting dead Gouthami, and injuring Shrisha, another student, is now trying to mislead the police by giving contradictory statements according to sources.  The incident happpend at the Pragathi College hostel in south east Bengaluru on Tuesday.

He has now reportedly told the investigating officers that he was frustrated as the girls often insulted him by calling him ‘uncle’.

The Additional commissioner of police (East) P Harisekharan, reportedly said that “He is making contradictory statements. We have not come to any conclusion till now. We may be able to tell more things in a couple of days”.

A police team left for Mahesh’s native Kendalubylu in Thirthahalli, Shivamogga district to know about his antecedents.

“Initially, Mahesh claimed he had bought the country-made pistol from a stranger near KR Puram railway station, but we this think it’s a false claim. We suspect that he must have brought it from his native or some other place; and it shows his connections with anti social elements. We have to question him to find out if he had used the gun somewhere else earlier,” an investigating officer said.

Simultaneously, the city police are also probing the gun purchase angle.
