Bengaluru: Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Saturday directed police officers to control rowdy elements and ensure wine shops open and close as per the norms, and also prevent illegal activities such as video games and skill games.
Presenting a 30-point programme for the police officers, Minister Ramalinga Reddy has directed the police officers to take stringent action against paying guest (PG) houses for allowing illegal activities to ensure peace in the neighbourhood.
“I want police officers ruthless against those involved in money laundering, selling narcotics, ganja. I want police officers to go on night rounds. You have to organize police station-level public meetings. You have to strengthen the intelligence wing. I want you to take stringent action against those indulge in drink-and-drive and those who violate traffic rules,’’ the minister said.
He has also directed the police officers to discuss with the authorities concerned for some alternative places for street vendors and ensure no one collects bribe from them.
“The police have to take preventive measures to ensure no sexual assaults and atrocities against children and women. Stringent action is a must against those involve in such criminal activities. The police should not give a chance to the criminals to escape from being punished. I want the police to keep a vigil on girls schools. The police should take all measures to avoid harassment to the girl students from wayward elements,’’ he said.
The minister has also directed the police officers to prevent gambling activities since these would have an adverse effect on society.
“You have to control gambling without any mercy,’’ he said.
He has also cautioned the police officers about the beggar mafia. “The beggar mafia has been using children and women for begging. We have received some complaints against the beggar mafia. We have to control the beggar mafia,’’ he said.
