High Court finally grants bail to Naveen Soorinje

Bangalore : The Karnataka High Court has finally granted bail to Kasturi channel reporter Naveen Soorinje   on March 18, Monday.  Soorinje who was arrested in connection with the homestay attack case, was behind bars since November 7.Soorinje was been named 44th accused in the case.

The bail was granted on a surety bond of Rs 5 lakh and on condition that he would not try to destroy evidence. Soorinje is expected to be released in a couple of days.

The letter which  one of the victims of the Morning Mist homestay attack, Vijaykumar had written to the Press Council of India stating that  the police had wrongly arrested Soorinje to hush up their inefficiency, was produced before the court on Monday. Even Vijaykumar appeared as a witness. The court also noted that  the video footage of the homestay attack did not show Naveen being a part of the attackers.

It may be mentioned here that Soorinjes bail plea had earlier been rejected by the JMFC Court and the High Court.Various associations had also staged protests demanding the release of Soorinje.
