Mangalore, Mar 18: Karnataka CM Jagadish Shettar laid the foundation for the new building block at Lady Goschen Hospital that has a history of 164 years and inaugurated various developmental works in Mangalore on March 18, Monday. MRPL-ONGC has contributed Rs 2.27 crores for the new complex at Lady Goschen Hospital with a built up area of 12,000 square feet.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union Petroleum Minister M Veerappa Moily said that the work on the building will begin at the earliest and completed within 18 months. Over 6,000 to 7,000 babies are delivered at the maternity ward of Lady Goschen annually, he said adding the infrastructural facilities in the hospital will be developed to reach the goal of zero mortality. MRPL has shouldered the responsibility to develop infrastructures with the objective of reaching the benefits to common man, Moily said.
Tertiary Treatment Plant : CM Jagadish Shettar inaugurated the tertiary treatment plant installed by Mangalore Special Economic Zone Limited (MSEZL). He also inaugurated the first and second phase of the Mangalore Mini Vidhana Saudha and laid the foundation for the third phase of works. The CM even laid the foundation stone for buildings for different wards at District Wenlock Hospital.
State Health and Family Welfare Minister Aravind Limbavali, Udupi – Chikmagalur MP Jayaprakash Hegde, Dakshina Kannada district-in-charge Minister C T Ravi, Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Deputy Speaker N Yogish Bhat, MLAs Ramanath Rai, Krishna J Palemar and U T Khader, Deputy Commissioner N Prakash and others were present at the dais.
Various projects initiated : CM Jagadish Shettar inaugurated biogas unit installed at Urwa market by the Mangalore City Corporation. He also initiated various road works and inaugurated a synthetic track that was a long pending demand of athletes in coastal district. He also inaugurated the newly-built fire brigade complex at Pandeshwar, here. He also declared open the girl’s hostel for PU students and world class swimming pool. He also initiated works on the Swami Vivekananda Planetarium project at Pilikula, here.
