Bangalore:At the backdrop of unconstitutional oath-taking by Members of Legislative Assembly during the recently formed state government, High Court (HC) issued notices to 21 MLAs including 2 ministers.

He advocates Dharmapal and Jayakumar filed a writ-petition to HC for taking oath by MLAs in the name of individuals that amounts to undemocratic means.  One-member bench of HC issued notice after hearing the proceedings.  HC also served notices to the state ministers S R Patil and H Anjaneya in this regard.

The advocates Dharmapal and Jayakumar filed writ-petition in HC, as the elected MLAs are barred from taking oath in name of individuals, because the elected representatives are not supposed to take the oath in other languages except their regional languages and national language. Several MLAs have taken oath in the name of individual, while a few taken oath in Tulu and Marathi.
