Responsible Citizens Plea Tahsildar to Maintain Peace aftermath of Brawl

Moodbidri:The city lawyer M S Kotian presented a memorandum to Tahsildar on behalf of citizens, here on Friday September 27, urging the law enforcement agencies to maintain peace and communal harmony at the backdrop brawl over student by city lawyer Shantiprasad Hegde on Wednesday September 25.   The incident feared communal flare up for political gains, while the responsible and alert citizens determined to let the truth prevail rather than misconceptions.

On behalf of the responsible citizens, K P Sucharita Shetty said that the issue can be resolved amicably by brethrens of different communities.  Mahaveer College has tried to ignite communal disharmony by announcing holiday on Thursday September 26, just because the student involved was their alumnus, alleged Shetty.  ‘We need peace and harmony to thrive in Moodbidri.  None of the political parties should get leverage over the incident and common man should not be inconvenienced.  No need for personal enmity and none of the community should face wrath in this regard.  The justice can be done by Deputy Commissioner by probing the incidence,’ said Shetty.

The city lawyer K R Pandit said that Mahaveer College has not announced any holidays for whatever the reasons in its long history.  He said, ‘Let us not make students as scapegoats.  If the police register cases on those who are not related to the incidence, I will wage struggle as a social activist,’ said Pandit.

The enlightened and peace loving several citizens including Sudarshan M, Laxman Poojary, Prasad, Joylus Taccode and others were present on the occasion.
