Bangalore: After the communal flare-up at Chikmagalur, JD(S) National President and former prime minister HD Deve Gowda demanded that the State government must take immediate steps to crack down on elements instigating communal violence.

Addressing a press meet on December 29, Sunday, Gowda blamed the state government for failure to put a check to communal violence and warned of  protest if appropriate measures were not taken to put a check to the same.

“The Chikmagalur incident could have been prevented had the State government taken precautionary measures. The government should bear the responsibility for the incident and take steps to crack down the sources that create such violence,”Gowda said

He blamed the Congress for the growth of communal elements in Mangalore, Chikmagalur and Udupi. He said the JD(S) will take the responsibility of strengthening the third front ahead of the polls.

When questioned about the AAP victory  in Delhi, Gowda  said he felt the Aam Aadmi Party would provide good administration in Delhi.
