Bangalore: KSRTC and Bangalore International Airport will launch a luxury bus service between Mysore and the airport on August 14. Advanced bookings for “Fly Bus”, an initiative to help flyers from Mysore, will start on Sunday.
The KSRTC has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Bangalore International Airport to operate the buses. To begin with, KSRTC will run one bus and increase the number of buses later.
The luxury bus will have a chemical toilet and pantry facilities, besides GPS, wi-fi, television and flight information display system. The fare has been fixed at Rs 1,000, which includes snacks. The bus will go non-stop to Mysore via Yelahanka, Jalahalli, NICE Road, Kengeri and Mysore. Discounts on the fare will be offered for group ticket bookings.
KSRTC Managing Director Manjunath Prasad said, “A taxi from Mysore to the airport costs Rs 3,000-4,000. This cost can be reduced by using Fly Bus. Even those using the public transport need not change buses in Bengaluru to get to the airport,” he said.
In the next few months, similar services to Tirupathi, Mangalore, Udupi and Coimbatore will be launched, he said. Fly Buses will be painted light brown and gold. A separate departure point will be provided at the airport and at the Mysore bus-stand for the Fly Bus service.
