Belthangady : Close on the heels of the reports of thefts of cattle from several places in the district, Belthangady police on August 4, Sunday raided an illegal abbatoir at Indabettu and  rescued six cows. The police also seized nearly 100 kg of beef and arrested two persons. Meanwhile, four others managed to flee the place.

An Ambassador car and an autorickshaw which the accused used for transporting beef  were seized from the place by the cops.

Those arrested have been identified as Shabbeer and Irfan while those who took to their heels are Hasan, Ismail, Mohammad and Farooq.

Investigations are underway.
