
Bengaluru: The Karnataka police have banned the election betting and now, an election betting accused can be booked under the provisions of the Karnataka Control of Organised Crimes Act, 2000 (COCA).
According to an order issued by the department, those who are involved in the election betting can be booked under the Goonda act or COCA act.
According to the sources, DG-IGP Nilamani R Raju issued guidelines to the police in this regard. She directed the police to keep an eye on the miscreants engaged in the booking activities.
She directed the SPs of all the districts and the City Police Commissioners to form special teams in their jurisdiction to ensure that no one is involved in this act of betting.
