Bengaluru: Dogs have become latest victims of animal abuse in India. Days after three puppies were burnt alive by a few boys for ‘fun’, 30 dogs were butchered and buried in a pit here in Bengaluru. However one dog was pulled out alive by the activists.
The incident took place in Amurth Nagar on Thursday morning, where over 30 dogs were killed and dumped into a pit. Animal lovers discovered the mass killing of innocent animals after being informed about the horror by a representative of a leading liquor manufacturer. He informed the activists about a grave in their farmhouse in Amruth Mahal near Anjana Nagar.

According to a report in Bangalore Mirror, when the activists reached the spot, an 18-month-old stray dog was found in a state of immense shock and was very violent when the rescuers approached it. However, the dog was removed out of the pit.

“I usually join our security personnel during routine checking of our farms during the day. Today, I heard a feeble wail of an animal and when we stopped the jeep to take a closer look, we were shocked to see two huge pits dug up in our premises and even more shocked to see the pile of dead dogs. And the noise was of the lone dog that was trying to get up on its knees. I informed my seniors,” said the security guard. Fearing the wrath of BBMP officials, he refused to disclose his name to the rescuers.

According to the activists, it might be a result of pressure on local officers to reduce stray dog menace. When the activists asked the BBMP officials they denied any role in the massacre.

It may be recalled that, few weeks ago two medical students from Chennai were arrested for throwing a dog off a building’s roof and filming her plunging to the ground. Few days back, three puppies were set on fire by a few boys in Hyderabad. After waiting till the puppies were burnt completely, they uploaded the video on facebook. They were taken into custody and have been sent to juvenile home.
