Bengaluru: In a desperate bid to escape from the clutches of police, a thief ran over a police constable using a car stolen near Uttarahalli main road on Wednesday early morning, March 30.
The severely injured constable Sridharmurthy, attached with Subramanyapura police station is admitted in MS Ramaiah hospital and his condition is said to be critical.
The accused car thief Prem kumar is still at large and manhunt is on to nab him.
According to police, Prem kumar stole a parked luxury car near RT Nagar BDA complex and fled from the place.
Later, Subramanyapura police zeroed in on his whereabouts on a tip off from RT Nagar police and went ahead to arrest him near Uttarahalli Circle.
Sniffing the trouble the accused ruthlessly ran over on the four member police squad and fled the place.
Other two PCs also suffered minor injuries in the incident.
