Bengaluru: Canines have played an important role in the police department. Exclusive breeds have always been inducted into the canine squad and they have been instrumental in cracking many crime cases.

However, in an unique scheme launched by DCP South East Rohini Katoch Sapet, our very own desi breed dogs, which have been rendered homeless on the streets will be trained in the police beat system to help the police to bring down the crime rate.

As per the plan, the stray dogs will be trained in the beat system by the police canine trainers.

“In the pilot project, 50 stray dog cubs have been selected and are being given training. They are very sensitive and active. They are getting trained well,” said Rohini Katoch Sapet.

The training has been launched in 17 police station limits including Kumaraswamy layout, Jayanagar etc and once the training is over, the stray dogs will be used for the beat management.
