Bengaluru: The staff of the Child Welfare Committee were able to save a young girl from child marriage in the city on Monday, May 6.

According to sources, the mother of the girl was planning her marriage and all preparations were completed for the marriage rituals. But the Child Helpline and CWC members jointly rescued the girl.

Sources say that the girl’s father got married thrice and has been staying with his third wife and the mother too went on to marry someone after she was abandoned by her first husband and the father of the girl child.

“Based on a tip-off shared by the father, the marriage was stopped,” informed authorities.
