Bengaluru: The BJP corporator of BBMP, who had attempted suicide, by consuming poison, has been declared dead. She was in a critical condition at a private hospital. She was arrested for stealing a dress from a Mall while shopping here on April 2014. It is learnt that she was in depression.
HS Lalitha, the corporator of the Girinagar ward in Basavanagudi constituency and had consumed poison a month back after being arrested on shoplifting charges at the Sukh Sagar Mall at Gandhinagar on April 22.
Police had caught her red-handed stealing clothes worth Rs. 5,000 from a readymade garment showroom in Gandhinagar. The Upparpet police had arrested her and produced her before the jurisdictional magistrate, the same night.
She was remanded to judicial custody and later shifted to the Bangalore Parappana Agrahara Central Prison. It was only recently she was released on bail.
