Bantwal: The Janata darshan programme meant for the distribution of government provisions to the beneficiaries and to receive applications from the people was held here in Bantwal on Wednesday. The programme is designed to render social justice to the people belonging to backward classes as well.


“In order to ensure equality, development and to provide justice to all sections of the people, we have organised this Janata Darshan”, said B Ramanath Rai after inaugurating the programme.
The programme was organised here at the Taluk office premises at B C Road. “We should not forget our history. Former Prime minister Late India Gandhi had implemented the 20 point programme to help the suppressed, backward classes and the poor. The Janata Darshan programme has been launched by CM Siddaramaiah following the footsteps of Indira Gandhi”, Rai said.
Indira Gandhi has inspired the projects like granting land ownership rights to the poor, housing schemes etc. We are developed in the fields of science and technology along with other big countries. For development no need to further elaborate, this has been proved by PM Manmohan Singh who worked for the development of the country without much publicity and in silence. Our schemes like Property rights, housing scheme, mid-day meal for children have helped the poor and unprivileged.
He said, “In my tenure, we will work towards developing the region. Mini Vidhana Soudha, KSRTC Bus station, Traffic Police station, Supply of second phase Drinking water to the town municipal council, Underground Drainage system, five multi-village drinking water scheme and many other developmental projects will be implemented soon. A sum of 2 crores has been sanctioned for Nirmala Bantwal Project”. He also said that ration cards have been distributed to thousands of people and the remaining also will be given soon.
Dakshina Kannada Panchayath president Asha Thimmappa Gowda, Municipal president Vasanthi Chandappa, vice president Yasmin, taluk panchayat president Yashwant Deraje, vice president Vilasini, Standing committee president Ida Suresh, district officer A B Ibrahim, district panchayat executive officer Tulasi Maddineni, district police inspector Sharanappa, panchayat members Chandraprakash Shetty Tumbe, MS Mohammad, Mamatha Gatti, Santhosh Kumar Rai, Chennappa Kotyan, Padma Shekhar Jain, Mailappa Salyan, Abbas Ali, Padma Shekhar Jain, Sudarshan Jain were present.
Mangaluru assistant commissioner Ashok welcomed the gathering. Tahsildar B S Malleswamy rendered the vote of thanks. Ramachandra Rao and Gurunath Bagewadi compered the programme.
The birth anniversary of Indira Gandhi was also celebrated during the programme.
It was a record breaking programme where 1799 applications were cleared and the maximum number of people benefited from this programme. The programme started at 10am attended by thousands of people across the district. District incharge minister distributed kits to the beneficiaries.
