Bengaluru: Residents of the city will soon be relieved from the filthy garbage issue, KJ George, minister in-charge of Bengaluru, assured on Friday.

He was speaking to media after the city inspection round up on various civic issues.
Heaps of garbage on pavements and roads increased drastically due to festivals. It is also attributed to the closure of garbage segregation unit run by a private firm due to localities opposition, George said.
Government had identified 10 places for garbage segregation units, but could not start up those due to opposition. Hence, conservancy workers did not collect the garbage, he defended.
Now the government had identified 7 places for setting up garbage segregation units and it will function harmlessly. These units are based on the Korean module of garbage segregation system, he said.
The government has allotted Rs 792 crores for various city based projects including to find a permanent solution for garbage issue, he informed.
He had visited various localities of the city where civic related issues were pertaining for long.
