Bengaluru: The prime accused in the serial bomb blast case in Bengaluru was nabbed by the police on Monday late night, August 8.
The arrested is Shiekh Amir Ali. He is said to be the mastermind behind the serial bomb blasts that jolted Bengaluru city in 2000.
He was taken into custody near a village in Nelgonda of Andhra Pradesh, 16 long years after the destructive act. According to CID sources, he was also involved in Hubballi and Karburgi bomb blast incidents.
It is not yet clear, whether he is involved in the recent Mysuru bomb blast case, sources said. It may be recalled that Shiekh Amir Ali was involved in the blasts near Magadi Road and Jagjeevanram Nagar in Bengaluru, Wadi in Kalaburagi and Keshavapur in Hubli.
As many as 29 people were arrested out for the blasts of which eleven were awarded death sentence and 12 were awarded life term. Seven others were absconding out of which 5 were suspected to be Pakistani nationals. Shiek Amir Ali was the prime accused in Peter and Paul’s church blast at Jagjeevanram Nagar. Terror group Deendar Anjuman, took responsibility for the blasts.
