Bengaluru: As public transport was missing from the streets of Bengaluru and vehicles were stopped between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu following violent protests, a bride along with her family walked several kms on Tuesday to make it to the wedding venue in Tamil Nadu.
NDTV quoted the disappointed bride Prema saying, “We are missing a lot of joy. The day has become unforgettable. We are facing a lot of problems. We had sent out 600 invitations but now only 20 members are coming to the wedding. This is not the right way, we are all Indians.”
Prema, a resident of bengaluru will be married tomorrow to a young man in Tamil Nadu. The bride along with her family have taken a bus, auto and whatever they can find on the deserted roads, to make it to the wedding venue, Vaniyambadi in Tamil Nadu.
A person died in Rajgopal nagar area after the police opened fire as protests turned violent against Supreme Court order to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu on Monday night. Miscreants also torched several buses and trucks in Bengaluru and on a highway to Mysuru. Several protesters vandalised public property, including shops.
