Vijayapura: Tamil Nadu BJP Chief Annamalai has criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for his letter to the Prime Minister requesting the cancellation of the diplomatic passport of Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, who is facing serious allegations of sexually abusing multiple women and is currently abroad.
Speaking to reporters in Vijayapura, Annamalai characterized the CM’s letter as mere political exercise, highlighting that there is a proper procedure to apprehend an accused individual traveling abroad, which the state government has not initiated.
“We are not in power in the state, and we have already advised the Congress government to take legal action. The real question is, will they act accordingly? Why is the CM addressing the Prime Minister? As a former police officer in this state, I know that the appropriate step is to approach the CBI director, seeking assistance from international law enforcement agencies to issue a red corner notice and arrest the accused,” Annamalai stated.
He cited the example of the successful arrest of Bannaje Raja in Morocco, he said Karnataka was the first state in apprehending an accused overseas. “Our CID is the key department for Interpol coordination. We did not write to the PM then; instead, the Director should communicate with the CBI, who would then issue a red corner notice. Subsequently, the accused individual will be apprehended at any airport while attempting to board a flight. Once we receive notification, we need to bring the accused back. This is the established procedure,” Annamalai explained.
